Birdworld. Sexworld.
We went to Birdworld. In the height of the breeding season.
This is Boris, the Great Grey Owl. He’s recently been sex-pested up by a male Bengal Eagle Owl called Mozart because there are no other Bengal Eagle Owls around and Boris is the closest thing. He now has to have a screen around his cage.
Boris came out and did some flying for us. He’s always happy to fly. Unless...
The Roland U8 is an analogue-to-digital interface for PC. It gave me nothing but fucking constant headaches for about 6 years.
But now I have Logic. And I don’t need the U8. So I retired it with gravity and a rubbish hammer.
No spray, no lay.
Been a good week. Our first video, a gig confirmed at Madame JoJos and 2 days of solid music-making at mine. Managed to write (but not finish) 4 songs, tried out some new vocal styles on old favourites and took plenty of beer breaks at The Gun.
In Hoxton Square for drinks with designer friend Ryan. Bar Music Hall have just offered us a gig too. They have a strict no drugs policy. Especially for...
Here it is. Our video for Qualified. Shot in a photographer’s studio in London Fields. Thanks to Fin, Rich, Rob and Gaz for gear-loan. Laura and Esme for hair, make-up and photos and most of all to Richard, Ersan and Yianni for shooting, editing and direction.

Shakira’s bodyparts
– This arrived in my inbox this morning. I think it’s meant to sound sexy, but it sounds like she’s been cut up and put in a bag.
Heads.Hearts on XStream East
Big thanks to Jamie and Andy for giving our track Strangers a play on their show Propaganda. Good to see them moving on to bigger and better things with a Friday night slot alongside some other cool shows on XStream East, an online radio station which broadcasts from the East End.
They’re both New Cross boys and have been big champions of new music for a long time, especially new music...
BBC 6 Music Introducing... tonight
We’re being played 3rd tonight along with tunes from Ten Bears, tips from Rob da Bank and Bobby Friction and session tracks from Micachu and the Shapes.
Right. That’s long enough to be indoors in this kind of weather. I’m off to Brick Lane to buy some clothes and eat some good food in St. John.
Radio play No.2
Tom Robinson’s just tweeted us to say he’s playing Qualified again next Monday. Respect.
Waiting for Amber to come over tonight to have a go on some vocals. Not sure which song we’re going to try, will play it by ear I reckon.
Deptford Girl →
She’s a girl. She lives in Deptford.
I lived just down the road in Lewisham for 5 years. It’s not a great place, but it’s funny how someone following all the little things that go on where you used to live can make you nostalgic.

The movie v. the reality
Sometimes, before something happens, I play the movie of how I want the thing to happen in my head.
Take the gig with Hot Chip we did last week. In the movie of our gig with Hot Chip, we play to a massive crowd, meet the band afterwards and they congratulate us on our show.
That was it. That was as far as the movie went. By anyone’s standards it’s a lame movie. We didn’t end...
